Montreal Blues Grape (Vitis 'Montreal Blues') bears large clusters of medium-large purple, slipskin grapes that taste similar to Concord Grapes but sweeter and seedless. The black seedless grape has a mild and sweet flavour. Excellent for making jams, jellies, juice, and as table grapes. Bred by Elmer Swenson to be hardy in cooler North American regions, Montreal Blues is hardy to USDA Zone 4b. This black grape vine reaches 15 to 20 feet tall and 3 to 8 feet wide. A vigorous self-fertile grape variety, but yields will benefit from another variety planted nearby. 'Montreal Blues' requires 1200 temperature degree-days (1200 daylight hours at 10 °C) to produce mature fruits. This late-season black grape ripens late September in zone 5a, so later than 'Trollhaugen'. While considered almost seedless, 'Montreal Blues' black seedless table grape may carry a few seeds on exceptional years under specific soil and climate conditions (drought for example). This black table grape is also known as St. Theresa Seedless Grape (Vitis 'St. Theresa Seedless') or Flambeau Grape (Vitis 'Flambeau').
