Brianna Grape (Vitis 'Brianna') is an interspecific hybrid of Riverbank grape (Vitis riparia) and Fox grape (Vitis labrusca), bred by Elmer Swenson, specifically to be hardy and tolerant of temperature extremes in the cooler regions of North America. This green table grape produces medium-sized clusters of medium-large, seeded green grapes that average 3 grams in weight, and 26°Brix. Brianna Grape fruits have an excellent, complex fruity flavour with notes of grapefruit, banana, mango and pineapple. They store well, and will keep up to two weeks once refrigerated. While an excellent table grape, Brianna Grape is even more appreciated as a juice grape. Use for wine making to produce a very good semi-sweet table wine. A mid-late season grape variety, 'Brianna' requires 1100 temperature degree-days (1100 daylight hours at 10 °C) to produce mature fruits. Grapes ripen in mid-September in zone 5a. The vine is vigorous, and begins producing at a young age (around 3 years). It reaches 6 - 8 ft long at maturity. Very showy draped over pergolas. Soil must be well-drained, and full sun is preferred. This variety boasts good disease resistance, especially to mildew. While self-pollinating, consider partnering Brianna white wine grape with another grape variety to increase its yield.
